Flying High with EIC's Latest Project
Engineers from building services firm EIC have been appointed to a £2.1m contract for a state-of-the-art research and development facility for aerospace contractor Moog. EIC will install mechanical services at the purpose-built, two-storey office, and single-storey production and warehouse building, at the i54 Business Park in Wolverhampton.
The six-month mechanical project is part of the £14m, 190,000 sq ft first phase of development for Moog, which manufactures aircraft controls. EIC, based in Alcester, was appointed by the main contractor McLaren Construction Group and will work closely with McLaren and the developer Stoford to ensure the timely and cost effective delivery of the contract by November 2011.
EIC’s engineered building services team will undertake the works, which includes subcontracted design and build for all mechanical services including air conditioning, heating and ventilation, public health and process engineering services.

Moog is set to relocate its flight controls operation from its existing base in nearby Wobaston Road by September 2012 in a move that will safeguard around 400 jobs. The project has been supported by Wolverhampton City Council, Advantage West Midlands and Fusion Building Consultancy.
This is the second project that EIC has been appointed to by the McLaren Construction Group, following the successful delivery of the flagship Zero Carbon Tesco store in Bourne, Lincolnshire, which opened to the public in February.
